Our Show  Donkeys

We start all our foals by training them to lead and trailer load after they are weaned from Momma. Then if they are going to be shown we start them trotting, after that we take them through the obstacle course even if they will only be shown in Halter. It gets them used to different objects and scary things. Of course that doesn't mean they will trot into the ring the first time they go to a show. That's a pretty scary place with a lot of new sights and smells (usually big horses and mules!) for them to absorb.

Cajun started his show career when he was eight months old, trotted right in like he owned the place, and has done exceptionally well ever since. He loves to go to a show, announcing his presence as soon as he is unloaded. He stays right by Franks side in the trail classes, which several judges have mentioned. You don't have to tug on him to get him to try any new obstacle. He loves it!

Black Max, who belongs to Bill and Sally Dunn, Country Blessings Farm,  has been in training here at our place since he was born, but will be headed for Florida as soon as the ADMS National's are over. He has a great future as a performance donkey. He is showing a lot of promise not only as a halter Jack but he loves trail too, and won't he look stunning pulling a cart!

Cajun and Jolie Blond made us proud!!!!!
and yes she is his daughter..........:)

Cajun has always loved to go to the shows. He went to his first show when he was eight months old and trotted into the arena like he had been doing it for years. We put him in In Hand Trail at that show and he went through it like a pro. Since then he has only improved and I think he enjoys it more every time he goes.
